The suburbs of Northern Virginia were mostly all I knew and could recall (having immigrated here from Korea when I was 4). I did not dare dream to live elsewhere because I didn’t know it was a choice. When I moved to New York City at the age of 18, I realized I was bound to Northern Virginia and that I could live elsewhere! Soon at 21, I left everything behind (my job, my family, my friends, my boyfriend, etc.) and moved across the world to Korea. I had no friends, few distant family members, no job, no money… actually I had about 240k in NYU school loans. In a blink of an eye 8 years had passed and I called Korea home. Just when I was getting comfortable, I once again had to drop everything (my job, my family, my friends, etc.) and move back to New York City- where I once again had no friends, no family members, no place to live. But look at me now, found a great place to live in West Harlem and a great roommate (@Vickiekim)! I made new friends and found myself a great community.
